Adults with complex seating and positioning needs that cannot be met in the community or in hospital inpatient programs

Fees

Set fees * publicly-funded services available to those who are eligible * funding may be available through the Assistive Devices Program or private insurance

Description of Services

Seating clinics to help improve comfort, posture, and the ability to perform daily activities with specialized seating or mobility devices

Services provided by occupational therapists and an occupational therapist/physiotherapist assistant in collaboration with a wheelchair vendor include:
  • assessment and consultation
  • equipment recommendation
  • Assistive Devices Program application authorization
  • education on wound prevention and management, postural management, and appropriate use of equipment
  • equipment selection and integration
  • expertise in power and manual wheelchairs, as well as modular and custom postural supports with matching equipment to clinical needs
  • expertise in addressing pressure wounds
  • expertise in matching equipment to clinical needs

Progression level of rehabilitative care for patients working to restore or maximize functionality
