Description des services:
Foster homes and adoption provide love, safety and stability to children who need it the most
Foster care is a temporary home that provides a safe, stable and caring home environment for children who become the responsibility of DCAFS. Children may need foster care for just a few days, a week, several months or possibly for years
The foster family’s aim is to provide a stable, nurturing and supportive home environment that will encourage the growth and development of a child
Foster parents are provided with information on the foster child and the reasons why their home has been chosen. Foster parents have the right to decline a placement if they feel the match is not suitable or that the timing for having a foster child in their home is not right
Adoption is a legal and social process through which a child becomes a part of a new family. It is intended to provide the child with permanence and security and is a life long process that requires commitment, patience and skill. Families interested in applying for adoption can complete an application package but may be placed on a waiting list for assessment
Information is also available on private adoption and resources related to the adoption process
