► Dental Clinic - Strathroy
The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) has recently opened a new dental clinic in Strathroy Ontario. The new clinic is located in The Shops of Sydenham (at 51 Front Street East).  The clinic provides free preventative dental services through the Healthy Smiles Ontario program for children 0 – 17 years of age.  If your child has pain, swelling, or suspected cavities and it would be financially difficult for you to pay for dental care, you can book a screening appointment with us to see if your child qualifies for free dental care. If you do not have dental insurance and cannot afford a cleaning for your child, they can be seen at the Strathroy dental clinic for ongoing free preventive oral health services (PREV-OH).

Provincial Services 

► Urgent Care Ontario | Get A Virtual Urgent Care Appointment
Access urgent care without leaving your home. Urgent care services are available virtually through the Virtual Urgent Care Program for children and adults across Ontario. Through this program, patients are matched with a Nurse Practitioner who can assess timely access for non life-threatening health issues that require urgent medical attention.

In the event of a life-threatening emergency, always call 911 or present directly to the nearest emergency department.


► Virtual Care

Virtual care is a broad term for healthcare that is provided remotely using some form of technology.
A virtual care appointment  is an appointment with your healthcare provider that occurs in real time over telephone or video conference using your smartphone, tablet, or computer device. 

Virtual care can include:

  • telephone health-care appointments;
  • video health-care appointments;
  • non-urgent communication with your health-care provider using secure messaging tools (for example, patient portal);
  • digital technology use to monitor patient vitals remotely. 

IMPORTANT: If you have an urgent medical issue, call 911 or visit an Emergency Department or Urgent Care Centre. Do not call or send emails or wait for a virtual care appointment if you have urgent symptoms or an emergency.

► ConnectMyHealth
ConnectMyHealth is a digital health solution that provides you with an online, single access channel to view your health records from participating hospitals in Ontario Health West Region (Southwestern Ontario). ConnectMyHealth can be used on desktop and mobile devices from within Canada, and there's no cost to use it. ConnectMyHealth is a web-based tool, so there is no app to download to access your account on an ongoing basis. For added security, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is required at each login to ConnectMyHealth, which is available via SMS Text or by using an authenticator app.
 
ConnectMyHealth can be used in both English and French, however health records themselves are only available in English from participating hospitals. To register for an account, you must be at least 16 years old and have a valid Ontario Health Card; eligibility requirements are available on the ConnectMyHealth information website https://info.connectmyhealth.ca.
 
ConnectMyHealth is different than other patient portals because it combines various types of health records created at hospitals you've been to in the Ontario Health West Region into one, consolidated view. ConnectMyHealth can be an ideal complement to in-person or virtual visits with your care providers by providing you easy access to your hospital records, and to additional functionality you may have through your local hospital, like appointment scheduling.
 
Other key features of ConnectMyHealth include:

  • New Results Alerts: Subscribe to be notified by email when you’ve got new results available to view in ConnectMyHealth from select hospitals in Ontario Health West Region; your New Results page displays first when you log in, for quick and easy viewing
  • Record Sharing: Share your health records with other ConnectMyHealth users (e.g., family and caregivers)
  • Patient Dashboard: Customize your patient dashboard view by organizing the types of health records (modules) that are most important to you
  • Patient Visits Timeline: View your upcoming scheduled hospital appointments, where available

 
ConnectMyHealth is operated by the HITS eHealth Office at Hamilton Health Sciences, is funded by Ontario Health, and is being made available to patients in Ontario Health West Region in collaboration with local Ontario Health Teams.

Healthy Smiles Ontario  
A government-funded dental program that provides free preventive, routine, and emergency dental services for children and youth 17 years old and under from low-income households.

Eye See…Eye Learn® program
To participate in the program the eye exam must be with a participating optometrist.  If required, Eye See…Eye Learn® will provide one pair of glasses per child courtesy of our participating optometrists and corporate partners Essilor Vision Foundation Canada and Modern Optical Canada. The frames are fashionable and are made with high quality and impact resistant polycarbonate lenses. The estimated value of the glasses is over $300.

Information on Indigenous Services
Health and social services for Indigenous communities are often a combination of traditional healing, primary care, cultural programs, health promotion programs, resource centres, community development initiatives, and social support services. Indigenous peoples are the descendants of the original inhabitants of North America, who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit.

The three First Nations communities closest in proximity to Middlesex County and the City of London are: Chippewa of the Thames First Nation (part of the Anishinaabe); Oneida Nation of the Thames (part of the Haudenosaunee); and, Munsee-Delaware Nation (part of the Leni-Lunaape).
