Description of Services

Nonprofit justice and mental health centre that advocates on behalf of the needs of children, youth and families in crisis because of crime and violence * clinical assessments, intervention, consultation and training, public education, research and advocacy * programs provide support, mental health assessments, monitoring of parental disputes, counselling, psychological support * professional workshops and training are also offered

Professional Workshops and Training - Training workshop topics include impact of domestic violence on children, intimate partner violence, child sexual abuse, cognitive behavioural interventions, youth suicide prevention, bullying, adolescent depression, vicarious trauma, child witnesses who testify in court, custody and access disputes

Resource Development and Publications - Develops training packages for helping professionals * provides publications regarding child, youth and family mental health and justice issues
  • Multidisciplinary Clinical Supports Program Program provides intensive mental health services to adolescents living in local custody or therapeutic care settings and their families * services provided by clinicians, registered nurses, licensed pediatric psychiatrists and registered psychologists
  • Parenting Capacity Assessments Assessment in family separation matters to aid courts, lawyers, and Children's Aid Societies make court-ordered decisions that are in the best interests of the children
  • Parenting Plan Evaluations Conducts comprehensive assessments of children and parents undergoing separation to identify the mental health implications and needs of children to make child-centered recommendations on custody and access * assessments completed by unbiased masters or doctoral level trained assessors * includes individual interviews, questionnaires, parent-child observations, and collecting recommendations from physicians, counselors, and other individuals close to the family
