Description of Services

Acute health care services for children and youth
  •  
  • Juvenile Diabetes Education Centre Diabetes education for children and adolescents * children, adolescents and their families receive interdisciplinary care * follow-up is maintained at regular three month intervals for ongoing support and education * team members involved are nurses, dietitians, social workers, child life and art therapy instructors, endocrinologist and psychologist by referral * fully developed insulin pump program

  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Level 2 care centre for premature, sick and at-risk newborns

  • Outpatient Clinic and POGO (Oncology) - Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario Satellite Clinic Outpatient care in oncology, medical follow up care for children and youth * health teaching to assist patient and family understand condition and participate in treatment program * services include maintenance chemotherapy, transfusions, remicade and other infusions, dressing changes, medication administration, x-ray, blood work, specimen collections, vital signs monitoring, IVIG, premature infant follow up, Cystic Fibrosis Clinic, Synagis Clinic

  • Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Clinic Ongoing medical management of cystic fibrosis patients from infants, children and youth * education and support * services provided by a multidisciplinary team of health professionals including pediatrician, nurse, dietitian, physiotherapist, respiratory therapist and social worker * resources available * medication and supplies * assistance with the day-to-day management of cystic fibrosis

  • Synagis Clinic Outpatient clinic for children and infants at risk of contracting respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
